Educational Seminar Thanks to all who attended the educational seminar. Once again, the event was a great success and special thanks to our speaker Kate Cain of Winston & Strawn. Presentation and discussion facilitated by Kathrine Cain focused on the evolving relationships between Litigation Support, Information Technology, Records Management, Knowledge Management and Practice Support. Please click here for a copy of the presentation. DETAILS: The lines that have traditionally formed the boundaries between legal support services and technology are becoming less clear with each passing day. In today's legal environment, it is nearly impossible to separate "litigation support" from "information technology." The evolution of Records Management from a facilities planning responsibility to a data management and professional responsibility issue adds another variable to the equation. Factor in emerging disciplines like Knowledge Management and Practice Support and you've moved beyond basic algebra and entered into complex calculus. Whether your role focuses on Litigation Support or one of these other areas, your continuing success-- and that of your customers and clients-- will depend on how well you understand and leverage the connections between each of these areas. ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Kathrine Cain is part of the Practice Support team with Winston & Strawn LLP. Her nearly 10 years of experience working with Chicago law firms encompass a variety of roles including Practice Analyst, Project Manager, Support & Training Manager and Technical Trainer. Kate holds a Masters in Communication Systems Strategy from Northwestern University as well as PM Strategy certificates from Loyola University. She is currently the Executive Treasurer and a founding member of ChicLit as well as an officer in the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA).
